    Hopefully, many of you are now using IE’s conditional comments to avoid using CSS hacks to cover for that browser’s inadequacies. I was already using them when IE7 came along, causing further problems with some rules working properly and others not - this then led to three separate stylesheets (one basic, two overrides) which can be a nightmare to maintain. Plus, the HTML begins to look very ugly around the stylesheet call area and you get extra http requests.

    I came across this suggestion a few weeks ago and it works very nicely. I now have one stylesheet, with legal IE-specific overrides just after the original rule they correspond to.
