I know this has probably been discussed but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer. I would very much appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction here.
I’m using one of the CSSplay examples virtually ’out of the box’. Looks great in FF and Safari but in IE6 my sub menus appear z-indexed below the main menu item underneath my top row of links - in other words I have two rows of links and the bottom row works fine as it doesn’t have to go over any other links but the top row of links is supposed to have its submenus go over the bottom row of links - this doesn’t happen.
Can anybody please either tell me that this is impossible and put me out of my misery or point me in the direction of a fix or other solution.

Just in case anybody else reads this, I am 99.9% certain there is no clean CSS solution to this but then again I could be suffering from lack of sleep!
I managed to integrate fsmenu by twinhelix and it appears to have great cross-browser support, when I get things cleaned up I will ask for opinions but it seems I’m also getting transparency even in ie6 - purely by accident I might add! Don’t think I could do it again if tried. It integrated easily but the CSS and Javascript took a bit of deciphering for a novice.
Hope this helps somebody get more sleep rather than searching for a solution that does not exist! zzzzzzzz - bump

bug testing a menu is hard if we can not look at it. could be lots of reasons why its not working right.
first thing to look at is if the menu you used from www.cssplay.co.uk does work there in ie6 if yes then the problem is related to your template code or css like did you use the right doctype did you make the html order right, etc etc lots of posibilities.
I always use pure css menu’s all of them work in all browsers but it takes some tinkering to get it to work in all browsers especialy IE6

Dimmy - don’t misunderstand me I’m not complaining at all. I can’t give you the example at the moment as it is all to messy from all the changes and it is just a practise site that I really, really do need to tidy up.
As I understand it there is no solution to pure CSS drop down menus (unless you use the iframe hack) going under SELECT items when they should be going over them.
I’d love to see an example and be proved wrong - da da daaaaaa
is it a dropline? or did you use 2 menu’s below each other?
if that is the case call the lowest menu befor the higest menu in html and in css
It’s simply an unordered list that is styled to fit into a grid pattern (6wide 3 deep).
I can see what you are saying though - it would be logical to do it that way but as I understand it in ie6 and below anything that is a link will sit righht on top of everything else - a bit like using Flash.
