[SOLVED] footerStickAlt problems in IE6

It is me again with footer problems. I finally found an Internet Explorer 6 version to test my layout I was working on. The footer works fine in FireFox, IE7, and IE6 when the content of the page isn’t longer than the viewport. However, when the content is below the viewport, the footer in IE6 overlaps the content.

IE7 was experiencing the same difficulty, until I added a margin in the "container" div, equal to the height of the footer, that holds the three columns of content. However, IE6 still renders the overlap. I can get the footer off of the content by adding a padding to the "container" div, but then the footer is completely off the page and you can’t scroll to see it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I try to learn all the eccentricities of all the browsers.

The overflow:hidden was causing all the problems.

A couple of ideas, add a bottom margin or padding to the body to allow for the footer to flow down into that space. Or, is it possible to just add the footer into the content div? That would fit right into and flow below the content.

footerStickAlt requires it be outside the content div from my understanding. I tried adding the margin and padding to the body, but that doesn’t have any effect in IE6.

Any other ideas?

Not really sure, I have a feeling that it is due to a float or position:relative someplace, but can’t find it yet....

I’ll keep looking at it and see if I can’t figure it out someplace.

That fixes the problem when the center content column is the longest. However, when either side column is longer than the content columns, then the footer completely disappears and sometimes the column goes below the viewport with no scroll bar.

Any CSS guru’s (Looks in Ryan’s direction) with any idea?

As before IE7 and FF have no problems rendering it.
