Basic CSS Framework

    Ok, I tried searching for it for awhile, but I can’t remember enough keywords to search anything meaningful. There was a thread awhile back in which Ryan posted the makings of all his stylesheets. Basically it was all the stuff that is reset to 0 so that there is cross-browser consistency. I was wanting to bookmark that thread (not sure why I didn’t earlier).

      All the things reset to zero ?

      I guess there’s more to what you’re looking for than 

      * {padding: 0;
margin: 0;
}


      If you’re talking IE hacks or such, there are dozens of them...
      Probably Ryan will remember and unfreeze the situation for you !

        It wasn’t resetting everything to 0, because some stuff you want to have some values for. It was basically how he started every stylesheet of his.

            This is a hint that we are talking about the same thing a single declaration which makes sures to get rid of inherited margins and paddings, which most of us put right at the top of our CSS...

            is basically the same as 

            * {padding: 0;
margin: 0;
}


            or it should * being the universal selector...

            The rest is very handy too but not always needed...

                Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for. "Neutralize CSS" probably would have worked, although the title of that topic would have been a little misleading.

                  Woot, lesson re-learned : always challenge your own assumptions, star reset worked for me thus I never reconsidered (I can be lazy at times) and dug into resetting styles : another item to add to the CSS toolbox, thanks !

                  So many things to learn, and only 24h a day !!!
