It has to do with the CSS file. M$ Internet Exploder is so screwed up from a CSS standards compliance standpoint (While FF is very compliant) that it takes a lot of work to get it to look like it does in Firefox. IE is without question the sorriest browser going, with unfortunately the largest share of browsers in use.
You are going to have to tinker with your css file so it works in IE.

Actually, I don’t think you can hang this one on IE. Looks to me as if you need to remove the padding in #sideMenu ul li as well as #sideMenu ul. That should fix the problem with the menus indenting.
I don’t see any image issues in IE7 offhand...
I actually like IE7 about as well as Firefox 2. The only thing that FF has going for it that makes it superior nowadays is its library of extensions. Sure Microsoft is Satan, but IE7 is a damn good browser in my humble opinion.
Perhaps. But IE7 still has lots of css weirds. Like not accepting a shorthand no-repeat as in
background: #FBF9F4 url(images/form_bg.png) no-repeat right bottom;
background-repeat: no-repeat; /* for IE */

That background declaration works just fine for me in IE7 (without the duplicate info in the second line). I don’t usually use this particular shorthand because Safari sometimes reads it wrong (and I don’t have a Mac to test on), but I don’t think it causes IE7 any grief. Test it for yourself in isolation here:

Zap; Thanks for taking the time to link to the demo. Here is what I found; I can run the demo at w3schools.com with all the browsers I have FF2/IE7/Opera 9/Flock 0.7.10
I copied the code from the w3 demo and put it in a test html on my machine (XP sp2) Here is what happened-

The commented out code works as advertised in all four browsers. Moving the same line to an external css file-

and calling it as shown
The shorthand line won’t work in any of the 4 browsers, but the commented out code will! I don’t know what to check. Obviously something is not right. I tried using different DOCTYPES but no luck. Any ideas on what to check?

There is a typo in your second code block (it’s missing the end of the jpg property), but I assume that it was right when you tried it in your CSS file...?
There is a rule as to the order in which you have to call your properties, and fixed (or scroll) should come before center (or any other positioning), so maybe that’s the problem.
