The title suggests its not really a MODx issues but I just can’t get any png fixes (included the snippet provided in the MODx resources) working on my MODx powered sites.

I remember older versions of IE were completely lacking in PNG support. Do the png files show up at all or are they just darker than they appear in Firefox/Mozilla/Opera?
I think you typically have to save using PNG-8 rather than PNG-16 and forget alpha transparency. If you are using Photoshop, you may have to run the resulting png files through a free program called pngcrush to strip out the gama information.
I’ve also seen images not show up because of webserver configurations but that shouldn’t be the case if the images show up fine in non-IE browsers.
Can you be a bit more specific as to what you’re trying to do and what the results are? There are different fixes for transparent PNGs as background images or regular embedded images in IE6. I haven’t tried the MODx plugin method, but I think that it works only for regular images (not background images).
