I usually have three browsers open all the time FF2, Konquer, and Epiphany. If I am testing I will also open IE6, IE7, Chrome and FF3 for Windows on my virtual server.
Why these three? - Some of the plugins I want aren’t on FF3 yet and I use FF2 to view the websites. I open my Modx managers in Epiphany and Konquer is connected to my databases through phpMyAdmin.

Firefox with the add ons is by far the best... can’t live without ranquest and web developer.
Second is G Chrome because of the auto complete type in address bar... just makes things quicker
Chrome is nice!! for browsing.
for developing I use Firefox.

It is an old thread... but I have something to add!
FF is not as good as I use to think it was. I have recently been tying flash graphs and charts in to modx and custom databases and it’s bloody laggy when loading the chart information even with firebug etc off. Chrome is the smoothest when it comes to the graphs I’m using, there’s no slow down at all. Also I have noticed some performance issues with FF 3.5.3 and opacity.
FF still the best for debugging but Chrome is my fav for general use as it’s faster at rendering busy pages.
I have read that Firebug slows things down even when off/disabled. I’ve never tested it.
FF is as good as the others on a fresh install ( that’s what I’ve found ) but if your anything like me you have loads of ad-dons installed which slow it down, guess thats a minus for it but I put up with it as it saves me so much time when developing.
As bob says Firebug still grabs resources even when disabled but hey, one of the best ad-dons out there for trouble shooting ;o)
