On a couple of Evo sites I have made use of the directResize plugin from extra’s as it provides support for the highslide image expander. It has a few features which I really like.
However I have just relaunched my personal website in Revo and the support for this plugin is patchy. The original plugin for Evo is no longer supported, someone has produced a bare-bones version for Revo however the options are limited and the support is patchy.
As a result I took it on myself to develop the plugin as it was an itch I had to scratch. The first results of this have been posted at www.github.com/apcherry/directresize.
So the question is how do I take this forward? I’d like to submit my version as an extra for everyone else to access but I’m not sure how to go about it. I could submit it as a completely new extra but I’d like to recognize and pick up on the work of those that have already done so much. Also using the the directResize naming would enable those already using the plugin to update to the latest version. Unfortunately the modx website says in this case go to the page for the extra and use the "upload new version" option. Unfortunately as I’m not the original author then I don’t have this option.
So what do I do? I have emailed the original authors of the plugin a few times but have had no response, just sent one more contact tonight to see if I can get a response.
Can I update an extra authored by someone else or do I just register it as a new extra?

I’m not sure what the best answer is. I think I would be inclined to give it a little more time, then just release it as DirectResizePlus, DirectResizeR, DirectresizeX, or something similar, with credits in the readme.txt file and the code comments to the original author(s).
