For Evolution put your sidebar chunks in a new category ’Sidebar" create a TV with the Input Option Values set to :
@SELECT description,name FROM modx_site_htmlsnippets WHERE category = * ORDER BY name
Where * is the cat id of the Category ’Sidebar’ that your chunks are grouped by.
To find out the cat id go to Elements => Manage Elements => Combined View and hover on the delete link for the category
