Using Connector in without manager session

Hello there,

I have been working on the PhpThumb output filter http://github.com/jaredloman/PHPThumb-Output-Filter/. Since modx revo has phpthumb installed by default, I thought it would be great to use the default install as opposed to packaging phpthumb with the snippet. I finally found the phpthumb connecter in "connectors/system/" so I just updated the snippet to use that as the phpthumb path. Surprisingly, it worked great........until I was alerted to the fact that it only works when logged into the manager.

I’m kind of a dummy when it comes to this stuff. Is there anyway to utilize the core install of phpthumb when there isn’t an active manager session?

Yes, but it’s tricky, as you don’t want it to get hijacked. See the Gallery package for how it does it.

@jtech Funny, I’m the one to do the "alerting" and stumbled onto this looking for a fix, we’ll get there. Keep us posted on the phpthumb filter, it rocks so far!

@splittingred: Eek...I’m a little bit intimidated.. Could you perhaps guide me just a step further and point me towards the right location to see what you have done? I’m still very much a novice so I spend hours upon hours just trying to figure out what is happening and tracing the path.. I’d be honored if you were to show me in detail how it works, but certainly understand if you don’t have time.

@neon_eddy: Thanks a bunch for pointing that out!! I’m always logged in to the manager so I probably would have never noticed until one of my clients complained Thanks for the encouragment!

Yikes, that makes my head spin! I’ve stared at all of that for the last 4 hours while comparing it to the documentation. Needless to say, I’ve learned a lot...however, not quite enough to make what I hoped a reality. I think I’ll just go back to packaging phpThumb with the Output Filter snippet.

Unless there is anyone else that wants to tackle this that is...?

For now I’m going to repackage with PhpThumb to get everyone back online and working...even when they aren’t logged in.
