I wasn’t sure if I should be posting general Revo discussions in here, since there is a Revo 2.0 subforum but I thought since Revo is still MODx it can go in here smiley

I’ve just installed the new Revo Beta 5, went to System > Package Management and installed Ditto, DocManager, FormIt, Quip and WayFinder (note. the Package Manager is awesome, I really wish that existed for Evo) then thought "right, lets rebuild my own website in Revo"... I then created a new Resource within the Web context, took about 10 minutes to realise [*pagetitle*] is now [[*pagetitle]] and then loaded my homepage, jackpot, the new website was alive!

I then went back into the Manager and clicked around a few things, scratched my head and felt a bit stuck. Next I thought I’d need a CSS file, so I clicked the Files tab in the sidebar and couldn’t for the life of me find where the new /assets/templates/ folder should be, none of the new names really suggested where some CSS files could go?

What have other people been doing regarding server-side resources? I was thinking of just making a CSS folder in the root of the site, but then I’d want to use Revo properly, and I was sure there’s a specific place for CSS files, I just didn’t know where it was... additionally that also goes for images, where would be the proper place to upload images? Maybe in /connectors/layout/ since CSS and images are to do with the layout of my site? huh

At this point I closed the Manager and jumped on the forums.

Overall I was really impressed with the new Manager, it is very slick and polished - It almost feels like I’m using MODx OS, it feels powerful.

However, I wish I could migrate an existing Evo into Revo for testing, or if there could be a demo site so I can see how things are structured?

What other stories have people got when trying to build a site using Revo? I really want to get comfortable with Revo (the Package Manager is a real sell for me), so any tips would be appreciated.

A quick response: we put our files in assets/, such as assets/css/, assets/js/, etc. We just create the directories, including the assets/ directory. I *strongly* recommend not putting anything in the connectors directory.

There are no "official" locations for files (e.g. CSS and images) in either Evolution or Revolution. You can put them wherever you like as long as the references to them are correct.

When converting a site to Revolution, I generally put them wherever they were before, usually under the root, or assets.
