I’m currently working on a Modx based website and want a "guide" on every content page that shows where the user is on the site. For instance, if the user chooses in the submenu "members" -> "photogallery", I want that to be show on the page "members > photogallery", so the user knows where he is on the website. With the pagetitle I can get the title of the page, but I can’t get it to retrieve the category of the page.

Is there any way of doing this? It doesn’t have to be clickable smiley

That’s called a "breadcrumb trail", and there are several ways to do that. Wayfinder can be used, which is probably the most flexible method. Wayfinder comes with a breadcrumb.config.php file; you can find it in the snippet’s configs directory.

I was just about to post that I’ve found out its called breadcrumbs. wink I installed the breadcrumbs package, and it works great. The only thing is that I dont want it to be "links". The problem is as follows:

When I have a menu structure: home -> members -> gallery, I only want "home" and "gallery" to be clickable. The "members" page is only for the menu container, and doesnt have a page. Is this somehow possible? smiley

You can do that via the breadcrumb properties.

Here is the manual page - you can read up on all the available options:
          http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/Breadcrumbs

Look at the currentAsLink option. Implementation would be something like this [[Breadcrumbs? &currentAsLink=`false`]].

Should get you where you need to be if I have understood your question.

Thanks, but that only disables the current page as link. I need it to disable the submenu. Like:

            Menu - SUBMENU - Item

So submenu is not a link. that the current page is a link is just fine. smiley

I’ve got it working by changing bcTplCrumbLink to:

              <class="B_crumb" href="[[~[[+resource]]]]" title="[[+description]]">[[+text]]</class>
              smiley
