When adding a banner I get a error "disallowed file type" why is this? anyone know?

Check the site configuration for allowed filetypes; usually this is when you are uploading a file such as banner.JPEG, which is a variation of the type .jpg, and the list of allowed filetypes only has .jpg.
It says to add the URL of my banner into the file browser. What is the file browser in modx?
What version of MODx?
For Evolution, when logged into the backend, go to Tools->Configuration->File Manager and then add your file type to the list of Uploadable File Types
In Revolution, go to System->System Settings, then filter by area and select File System, and add your file type to Uploadable File Types

I using Modx evolution. The problem I am having is uploading a banner, it gives me an error message of internal error. But read something about adding the url of the banner to the file browser. Not sure what that means to do. File browser different from file manager?
How are you trying tp upload the banner? Are you using FTP or are you using the rich text editor?
I using the FCKeditor. Tried different banners also still get same problem.
After I browse for the banner on my PC and open and click upload a box comes up says.. Message from webpage. Error, "Failed to up load File, internal error..." I think i have to first add the banner to my /assets/images folder but not sure how to do that.
Check the MODx error log. You may be having folder permission issues
