    Could someone explain containers?

If I make a page a container, how do I designate the pages that it contains? Can that child content be displayed on the container page? How?

Is a container really just a category? How does it manifest itself? Is this used just for menu-ing? Wayfinder?

I have looked for any documentation on this and cannot find it.

You can right-click on a resource to create children under it, you can click on the "Parent" link on the Create/Edit Resource panel, or you can drag the children to the parent in the tree.

          With a snippet (e.g., getResources).

Not at this point -- resources have no category, but the relationship is very similar. In Evolution, a container is any resource that has children. In Revolution, however, it is any resource that is designated as a container with the Container checkbox. The information is used by Wayfinder in creating menus, in theory, it’s used by the code that draws the tree, and it’s used by the code that creates Friendly URLs. It can also be used by any snippet that wants to treat resources designated as containers in some special way. In the future, document group membership and/or document access may be inherited from a container.

At present, users can’t see resources in the tree unless they can see all their ancestors in the tree (whether or not they are designated as containers).
