Why make a template *only* include a chunk of the same name?

I inherited a ModX site where all of the most common templates only have one line, like {{template-name}}. Why would the site designer do this? Why not just put the full template in there and call separate chunks when necessary? Seems really ugly to me, but I’m not a ModX veteran.

Sounds like someone either :
a) Didn’t really understand chunks / templates
b) Had some sort of OCD issue

OK, so there should be no problem with my fixing that, then, right? I’m guessing if I just copy the chunk code to the template, all the other chunk/snippets in there will still work OK.

Copying & pasting the content from each chunk should be fine.
Leave the chunk as a backup.
