Need some More Advice on MODx Sample Site

Hello All,

I have another noobie question. I am working with a modified version of MODx Sample Site. I want to have a random ad/page appear in the right grey sidebar everytime a new page is loaded. Can anybody give me some advice where to start? I have looked at the RandomChunk call but haven’t had any luck with it.

Which version of MODx?

Using Revolution 2 - The website is http://www.usmcgraduations.com/testofmodx

For Revolution, RamdomChunk should be called like this (note the double brackets at both ends and no ! at the end):



Start by creating your chunks with just a text message: "Chunk1" "Chunk2" etc. The chunk names are arbitrary, but they’re case-sensitive. Be sure you’re using back-ticks, not single quotes around the list of chunks and that there are no spaces in the chunk list.

Once you have those messages showing up, change the text message in each chunk to a regular HTML <img> tag.

I should mention that I haven’t tried this with Revo, though the snippet claims to work in 2.0.

[Update] I just looked and that snippet will not work as written in 2.x.

Change the last line of the snippet from:



to:

Glad to hear it.

Hopefully, the author (or someone) will update the listing so that it won’t be shown for Revolution 2.0. If I get some time, I’ll upload a revolution version.
