    Hi smiley

I’m a developer at an interactive agency. I’m looking into the feasibility of using MODx for some of our customers’ sites. I have downloaded it and installed it and I like what I see so far. So, with that out of the way, I have a few questions...

After we hand off a completed site to a client, we often will want to either make the manager unavailable or limit what can be done with it. Quite honestly, we would want to limit their access to updating content on a few pages only with every other option not even showing up. Is this possible? It’s important that most options should not appear to them, after all if they see extra tabs they cannot access, they’ll ask why and it’ll get nasty wink

Along with this, we’d like to re-skin the manager interface. I haven’t even looked at this; is it possible?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes. For manager (and web, or visitor) user management, see the Security menu item. Manager users are controlled by role, which specifies what they can do, and user group membership, which when combined with document groups (for the documents) determines what documents they can access.

And again, yes. The manager interface is controlled by the manager/media/style/MODxCarbon files; as well as some in assets/templates/manager. You can duplicate the MODxCarbon directory, then edit the css and other files as you please.

You can control the content of the Manger interface using the ManagerManager plugin.
