I am new to modx and have already installed a generic template. What I would like to do is add the coding that shows the navigation to the pages that I create automatically in my control panel. The basic template that came with modx has a pages area. As I create a page the template adds those page links to the pages area of the site (in the right hand column).

What I would like to know is what coding to I have to install in my naviation area, that will automatically put the links to the new pages that I create directly into the navigation area of the new template.

Here is the homepage that has that coding: http://70.85.226.130/~apicsday/index.php You can see that it has a pages area that automatically adds the links to the new pages that I create.

Here is the what my template is going to look like: http://70.85.226.130/~apicsday/index.php?id=2 on the left you will see my naviation (which is not complete). I want to add the coding to put the pages I create in the control panel to be in this left hand naviation area.

Basically I am going to make that left hand navigation area a chunk and want to add the code so the pages I create will be added to that chunk. I have searched the forums, read the tutorial but I am missing something. I am looking for the variable that will take the pages I create to be installed into that chunk.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Have you looked at the Wayfinder snippet?

Yeah it was Wayfinder. I cannot find wayfinder in my version: 1.0.2 (the latest stable version). You can see their offerings here: http://modxcms.com/extras/package/487 but it looks like their new versions are for the 2.0 plus and the version that looks like it will work with mine says: Depreciated. And ideas?

Should I upgrade to 2.0 now or wait for the stable release?

Right on that page, in the gray bar under the big Wayfinder title, click on previous releases and you should find the version for Evo. smiley

Usually when you install evolution Wayfinder comes as one of the preinstalled snippet, so if you left the snippets checked during your install it should already be there. Check under Resources->Manage Resources->Snippets. If it’s listed there then you’re good to go. If not just follow the instructions in the download to install it.

Thank you so much, wayfinder was in my snipplet area. I plugged it in for testing and works perfectly!

You have been a great help! wink
