I’m going to second the first comment of allanb.

I think life is going to be a lot more simple if you get rid of the idea of having one image represent all the graphical elements of your page.

Sorry I can’t be of more help...

          Hi kOLDSO

I took a look at your site not what you wanted!!!

As I said before I think you need to first get your image for your header.

Mary’s tutorial http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2009/03/31/building-a-website-with-modx-for-newbies-part-3-working-with-templates/ shows how to insert image in header.

The other point of using existing templates is they are tried and tested with all browsers all you have to change is the content of the relevent <divs>.

Please take a second look at the Templates I suggested and see if either of these layouts, not content are what you require. If you have other XHTML plus CSS template you fancy I will look at this for you. I have only been at this for a few weeks but would like to help as I have had learn’t so much from all the work of others.

            - It dosen’t give that professionally look.

btw. why didnt my content work? should i do like Marypad?

I think what allanb is saying that is you can use any of the available already coded and tested layouts and then add your content and graphics into them. I looked at the source code of your page and got a little confused. What does your template code that you’ve put in MODx look like, can you paste it in a post, and please surround it with code tags so it’s easier to read?

Thanks einsteinsboi you say it so much better than I do.

I am developing a site at present (my first using any CMS).

I have used no graphics yet just background images.

kOLDSQ you can take a look http://www.ctsoe.org

If you could imagine your header and sidebar images in this template.

                Would this suit your purpose???

The template only gives you the boxes in the correct places for you to use your unique images.

I think you could use Photoshop or The Gimp(Open Source (FREE)also quite a learning curve) to cut up your image.

I also strugled to see what modx was doing with your site.

Why not just attach the file to your post? It’s easier for us to download and look at that way
