    I replaced the header .jpg and kept the dimensions of the orginal .jpg in the css. I’m not sure how to create with the css a small drop down from the top of the template from the bottom edge of the browser.

      Update I went into the css, layout.css and changed the following

      ---------------------------------
      #inner{

      width:100%;

      padding-top:300px;/* previous orginal was 143 needed to make room for header*/
      }

      #header{

      position:absolute;

      top:0px;

      left:0px;

      width:776px;

      height:300px;/*previous orginal was 93 room needed to make room for header*/

      z-index:74;

      background: url(images/newheaderformodx2.jpg) no-repeat left top;

      }

      #ajaxmenu{

      position:absolute;

      top:260px;/*previous orginal was 93 room for header dropped to increase header graphic*/

      left:0px;

      width:776px;

      height:43px;

      z-index:65;

      background: url(images/header_776x43.jpg) no-repeat left top;

      }

      ---------------------------------

      on the graphic /newheaderformodx2.jpg , I opened it in gimp and used the selection tool and filled a small band I created and filled the area with the color black. similar to the template background color
