Hello everybody. This is my first post in this forum so please be gentle with me if I mess something up undecided

I used MODx CMS to build a website. This is my first experience in building a website and it wasn’t easy. I have some limited experience with html code, I know some html tags and I understand some php but very limited. I am not a IT professional smiley

The website turned out quite ok considering my experience. I used the ModxHost template for all the pages, I modified the images, logos and so on. I also modified the template, the right menu mainly.

There is a problem in some browsers, the first row from every page is half covered with the menu above so it’s not displayed properly (i have two rows in the menu and two of them have drop-down menus). I encountered this problem only in IE 6 and MyIE. I don’t consider it a big problem but if there was a simple solution I will like to know (apart from inserting a empty paragraph in every page).

The main reason for this post though is that I want the template to be wider. As I understand now it’s designed for 800x600 and I would like it to be designed for 1024x768, so that the menu items to be wider and the page itself to be wider. I don’t want to use a different template as I already modified the original ModxHost and I would like to keep it, just to be wider.

How complicated is that? Any solution is welcome. The website I built is http://chirurgie1cluj.ro It’s in Romanian so disregard the language just mind the desing.

Thank you for the patience and sorry for my bad english. I would appreciate any suggestions!

It’s all in the CSS. Just increase the widths of the various containers until you’re happy with it.

Do you mean the file /assets/templates/modxhost/layout.css? width=776 should be replaced with 1000 or something similar?

That would be a beginning, yes. The inner content areas will probably need to have their CSS adjusted as well.

            :’(

I can’t make it work ... there are too many variables and I can’t figure out what they mean. I can make it wider by replacing 776 with 1000 but the top menu remains the same, the right column text is displayed outside the coloured area, the inner text covers the right column.
I just want the header, the footer and the inner area to be wider with around 200px, the top menu to be wider (each menu box to be wider with 30-35px) and the right column to remain the same.
