NewsPublisher is no longer part of the standard package (since Evolution 1.0.0, I think). You could:
- download a copy from a forum thread about the snippet
http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,3220.0.html (the snippet never made it to the Extras, presumably because it was part of the core distribution) and follow the book from there. It should still work, it was removed from the standard distribution due to its lack of support for template variables;
- use the vastly improved opportunities offered by Evolution 1.0.2’s Quick Manager. It’s so much easier now to jump in and edit items as a manager user that it was when NewsPublisher was a standard item, and you can tailor the editor’s view with the built-in ManagerManager;
- if you really want a front-end editor, you could try my
pkBlog, though you may find setting it up a bit complex if you’re still finding your way around MODx. Having a go with NewsPublisher would be a suitable prelude to doing this - I started off on pkBlog by deconstructing NP.
- there’s at least one other front-end editor snippet (
FDM) available in the forums.
- you can wade through a couple of earlier threads on the subject of "where’s NewsPublisher gone?" for other suggestions:
