Hello there, I am quite new here, and have started using MODx very recently. So far, I am very pleased with my decision for switching from Joomla crap to MODx. Believe me, I was sick of Joomla when a friend of mine showed me a hope by introducing me to MODx.

I now want to install MODx to one my main client sites. I am looking for a fresh template for it. Please suggest me, how much I should pay on an average for a professional looking MODx template. If I am not wrong there are no websites that offer such services, so, I will post it on GAF or SL.

Will I be doing the right thing by hiring a web-designer? I mean, I have also heard that making templates with MODx is easy if wee have some CSS knowledge (which I do have). But I do not want to compromise for a slick design.

    Please guide me with this.

    Many thanks!

If you can design normal Html-CSS templates, you can design MODx templates.
It is also easy to convert many of the free templates [including wordpress templates] to MODx.
If you have problems, let me know.

MODx is probably the easiest CMS to use when it comes to implementing custom templates. You can take almost any existing HTML and CSS design and port it to MODx. If I were you, I’d find a good designer to develop a template and then port it into MODx.

Here’s a video that shows how to create MODx templates:

And Bob’s Guides has a good page on the subject:

@ jzigbe and Everett, thank you for your responses guys. I am looking for a good designer via SL and GAF at the moment, and hope to find the right one as I will be switching to MODx on my other sites too. Joomla has been a PITA rolleyes, and I am having some fresh air to breath after installing MODx. Trying to find time to custom code the template myself just in case..

Videos have been a great help indeed Everett, and made it much easier for me to handle the design stuff.

BTW, I wonder why MODx is under-advertised? I mean with my 3 years of wordpress and 2 years of Joomla experience..I had never been so impressed with any of them as I felt with MODx in just a week! Isn’t that amazing?

@jzigbe, I guess..I know you from SL..I will hire you buddy if you can do my job as desired. I never underpay, so, will surely pay you more than you have bidded if the work appealed me. But first, please show me a rough look of what you have thought about the project. Thanks for bidding over there! I hope you know what I am looking for.
