what i am trying to do is set up a template for a job board and have all the input created by template variables. is there a way to disable the document content area on the backend so as to eliminate confusion on where to input data? i only want it to be disabled for certain templates. am i making sense?

Use ManagerManager and set up a per-template rule to hide content.
