    Hi there
I’m working on a MODx site (www.sheffieldrenewables.org.uk) and the middle and right columns have a big space between them and the navigation bar - anybody experienced similar spacing issues with internet explorer. The site is looking pretty much right in Firefox.
    Cheers

Comes out OK for me in IE8, with or without compatibility view. But I think you have a structural issue in your templates - viewing source shows you have a BODY tag starting before the HEAD has finished, and duplication of the title, BASE and stylesheet link tags, and then another BODY, making an invalid HTML page. shocked

I think KP52 is on the right track... I would fix your validation issues (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.sheffieldrenewables.org.uk/&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0) first and then see if you still have problems.
