    I am really frustrated - switched from Drupal to Modx and was doing a tutorial from http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2009/03/31/building-a-website-with-modx-for-newbies-part-3-working-with-templates/ tutorial. I cant get the css sheet to show up. On the server the path is

    /public_html/xxxxxsitename/assets/templates/mytemplates/autumn/css/styles

    and the head code is

    <head>
    <title>[*pagetitle*] - [(site_name)]</title>

    <base href=”[(site_url)]” />
    <link href=”assets/templates/mytemplates/autumn/css/styles/styles.css” rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” />
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=[(modx_charset)]” />

    </head>

    I am pretty frustrated! I set the variable for css files as well and it does not change the outcome

    Thanks for any help

        the path is /public_html/wrinklies/assets/templates/mytemplates/autumn/css/styles on the host provider so this should match what there is below. Thanks so much for your help

        <base href="http://www.wrinklies.ca/" />
        <link href="assets/templates/mytemplates/autumn/css/styles/styles.css" rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” />
        <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=UTF-8” />

        <!-- Start QuickEdit headers -->
        <script type="text/javascript" src="/manager/media/script/mootools/mootools.js"></script>

        <script type="text/javascript" src="/assets/modules/quick_edit/javascript/QuickEdit.js"></script>
        <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="/assets/modules/quick_edit/styles/toolbar.css" />
        <script type="text/javascript">
        Window.addEvent(’load’,function() {
        qe = new QuickEdit(2,1,’/manager/’,’assets/modules/quick_edit’,$(’QE_Toolbar’));
        });
        </script>
        <!-- End QuickEdit headers -->
        </head>

          Is this a live site? I tried navigating to the url but page did not load.

          As far as I can tell your code looks like it should work. If I understand you correctly you have a css folder and inside that folder you have a styles folder? Or do you have a css folder with your styles.css file inside it?

            it is actually www.wrinklies.info as a testing site.

            /public_html/wrinklies/assets/templates/mytemplates/autumn/css/styles/styles.css is the cut and paste...it is so frustrating as a first pass to stumble so early on in the process so thanks

              I actually took out the extra styles folder as when you pointed it out, it was not needed! Anyway still no changes and the css does not show up

              Thanks so much

                When I view source on your page I notice something odd in the head section. Did you copy and paste from the tutorial? One thing i realized is the open and close quote marks (" ") on the tutorial render weirdly in Wordpress, so if you copy and paste it may give you errors.  Go through your head section and replace the opening and closing (") marks, type them in, and see if that makes a difference.

                  I noticed a post on that so did just that......does it matter single or double quotes? I am stumped and quite resourceful. I also tried to put a picture in and did not get anything.......it called autumn. I host lots of sites so wondered if the path was a problem, not being on the root. Doed it need .. or ../ or anything before the assets?

                  Again, thanks so much for the help

                    Hello,

                    Could you please change your base line to this:

                    <base href="http://www.amdbuilder.net/"></base>

                    Naturally replace my domain with the correct placeholder text.

                    You also need to fix your quote marks as noted above. They should be " instead of ” which is used in your code. Only the code in your header and banner image are affected.

                      I just retyped by hand the whole set and still did get the css sheet showing. I then blew the source up very big and cut and pasted from the doc type statements and the image showed up and the css showed up. Wow.

                      Nice, now I can continue on with that great tuorial

                      Thanks
