    hi,

I have installed modx & I’m looking forward to working on it as the install is easy........etc.
but not sure how to design a custom template for it.
i know i have 2 add the modx tags & so on.
went thru the doc’s but are not very good to vague....
or if you could show me how to export the whole site & then redesign from there would be super...

Any help will be highly appreciated
    Thanks

      Hi,

      Welcome!

Its worth spending some time with MODx. Knowledge comes at you in fits and bursts but its totally worth a little study.

Not sure how much experience you have with building sites in general. My advice is to create your home page with clean XHTML and CSS as a static page first (before adding it to MODx.) Make sure it validates via the w3c system and test it in the major browsers first (especially Internet Explorer.)

You can then use this design as your template within your MODx install.

      Some worthwhile reading:
      http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Beginner%27s_Guide_to_MODx
      http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/MODx096/Templates+Basic

I would use a local test ground system on your hard drive to test all of this (use MAMP if you are on a Mac or XAMP if using Windows.) You can then install as many MODx archives as you like. Its the best way of learning it. On one of your installs be sure to install the default content (checkbox during the install process.) Analyze that content: the pages, the snippets and the template.

      Good luck!

      Max
