I have installed MODx and have added the Anread02 template (correctly, I think). But it does not show up anywhere in the left hand panel (my MODx site). I had been expecting it to appear in Template Examples. Should it do so or is there something else that I should do to display it.

    Regards

You have to create a document using that template in the Templates branch of the Document Tree. The menu you see is made up from the documents in that branch.

Ok, did you copy/paste the content of your .html file into a new template in the Manager?

If you have done that, you’ll need to create a new document (or Duplicate one of the three existing ones) in the Template Examples folder, in the Tree (to the left). Edit your new document and select the Andreas02 template from the Template drop-down. The page will refresh (to reset any Template Variables). Make sure the document is published (second tab), and save it. Now it should show up in the Templates menu on the site.

I am slowly exploring exploring MODx as I originally installed it and finding out what to do - creating simple text files, seeing how I can move them around and so on. But, using Firefox with Firebug I am getting some problems with errors being reported (see screenshot below). There seems to be no way to clear the problem apart from shutting Firefox down and starting again. Is this a MODx fault or is it Firefox/Frebug?.

I had those problems long time ago. I was under firefox 2 + firebug. Using the manager for a short period of time was good, but when I kept my firefox open for a while, I had those similar problems. My solution was just to close firefox.
It’s the "memory leak" feature of firefox, but that’s not the question. (http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/02/14/2154224)
