Hello everyone. I am very new to MODx so I appreciate your patience and understand this might be a very silly question.

I am redesigning a website for a friend of mine who is using this CMS... I found a neat plugin to use but it requires the template ID. I cannot find this anywhere. I searched the site and read a few of the forum posts to find that it is saved in a field within the database. I do not have access priviledges to view the database fields, so my question is this: Is there any other way to find the template ID, within the MODx manager section?

Thanks in advance for your help. grin

Well, an easy way is to place the following on a page that you know uses the template:
      [*template*]

Preview the page, the above tag will get replaced with the template ID - once you have it, you can take the tag out from the page output.

You can just hover the mouse over the link for the template in the Resources -> Manage Resources -> Templates tab. Depending on your browser, you’ll get a tooltip or a status bar or something; the id= in the URL for the link will be the ID of the template.

Hello again and thanks to everyone for the responses.

I got the template ID and even used the same tactics suggested by Susan to find the user ID, which I needed as I installed the plug-in. Lesson learned: if you hover over any of the links within the manager (using Firefox) it shows the ID’s and "a" information as part of the URL in the bottom left corner. Hopefully this is useful for someone else in the future.

Thanks again for all the help. laugh
