    If you work some years on CSS based layouts you know more and more of the horrible effects browsers will give back (or they don’t if needed). wink

    To have a simple way to test some styles take Firefox with the Web Developer Toolbar add-on. There you can set "Miscellaneous -> Edit HTML" and in this sub-window you can play on every tag with inline styling. You also can test styles with "CSS -> Edit CSS" but there you lose all background images.

      Thanks - that’s a good hint for newbs like me. Looks like my girlfriend is going to hate the time I will have to use playing with my new tool laugh

      In the meantime - am I doing something obviously stupid here:

      #wrap{
      background:#ffffff;
      color:#303030;
      margin:0 auto;
      width:760px;
      }

      body{
      margin:0 auto;
      padding:0;
      font:76% Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;
      background:#f4f4f4 url(images/bg.gif) top center repeat-y;
      color:#303030;
      width:760px;
      }

      #nav{
      background: url(images/nav.jpg) repeat-x;
      display:table; /* this should help */
      }

        Funny I was going to ask you to post the code if the nav menu didn’t work! I will tinker with it later this week and see if I can get it working.

        Thanks

          Hello,

          I though you had the problem resolved so I didn’t go any further. I have quite a bit of school work to do this weekend so if your problem isn’t resolved next weekend I should have an answer for you. I can’t wait for summer!

              I managed to solve a similar problem by visiting the SOURCE

              he credits this site:

                Maybe you found your fix before I got there, but it looks the same in FF and IE7 for me.

                If it still looks broken to you, try clearing your browser cache in IE7.

                  Thanks for looking! Actually that’s just it: Once the browser cache is cleared it works fine for a period of time and then suddenly it vanishes in IE7. This has me quite baffled, so I guess I’ll to see if AMDbuilder comes up with the magic key, and if not I’ll sadly probably have to scrap the project...

                    That’s odd for sure. I just spent a while looking in IE7 and couldn’t make it do anything weird at all. What version of IE7 are you running (I’m on 7.0.6000.16609).
