    Greetings everyone,

    Sorry in advance for a seemingly trivial question to ask. I’ve scoured the wiki / template tutorial, etc and haven’t found a clear answer.

    I’m pretty familiar with html / css / php, which makes this all the more painful. I’m migrating from a Drupal environment, so I suspect that is the cause - I’ve gotten lazy.

    Is there a way I can "activate" or somehow test templates? For example, the default install has a very robust default page. I create a new template, copy / paste as per the install instructions. I’m using Revolt as an example:

    In order to install this style I'd recommend doing the following:
    	- Upload the folder 'assets' to your MODx directory;
    	- Copy the contents of revolt.template.txt to a new template (and alter it to your wishes, especially the metatags and RSS page number, both located in the <head> tags)
    	- Create a new chunk named 'SidebarRight'
    	- Paste the (edited to your own wishes) contents of the file 'sidebarright.chunk.txt' in it.
    	- Create a new chunk named 'TopMenu'
    	- Paste the (edited to your own wishes) contents of the file 'topmenu.chunk.txt' in it.
    	You're good to go now, I've also posted my 'custom' Ditto template under the 'extras' Revolt-field on MODxCMS.com. I do encourage everyone to modify their template to their likings, especially as my website is using the template as well ;)

    So now I have a nifty template called Revolt and all the snippets are made.

    What do I do now to apply it to my default site? I’ve tried using the Revolt template as a base index.htm /index.php - no luck. I’ve tried categorizing the Revolt template as "Frontend" default... nothing.

    Thanks in advance for the help.

      Funny how life works out sometimes. You look for something for an hour, post a topic about it, and then find it two minutes after.

      For those who don’t know (probably none) -- it’s an option under the main configuration options. Simply choose what template to use and it will make it the default.

      Moderators, feel free to delete the topic or let it remain as a record of my utter noobness. wink

        You can also assign a template to the individual pages when creating/editing them.
