Does any one forsee a problem with using this type of menu with MODx ?

    http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/dd_valid_2.html

It appears to work with only .css and I am interested in making it work with MODx.

You can use any menu you want. Wayfinder has examples of using the dropline menu here: http://www.muddydogpaws.com/development/wayfinder/examples/example-3.html

The problem you may have with the Stu Nicholls version is the left and right alignment for the sub menus ( the 2nd & 3rd level <ul>’s ).
The MuddyDogPaws one that smashingred pointed out doesn’t use those options

Personally, I never use dropdowns as they are annoying and many people never use them. In addition they don’t play nice with screen readers. I haven’t tried either one.

This menu can be reproduced in WF with a little effort, this one looks very straight forward at least. You will need to come up with a way to have the left and right aligned class used accordingly. but this can be done in several of ways just not automatically using the standard resources.

Thanks guys for all the advice on this one. I have decided to try and implement the ajaxmenu that comes with the MODx install. (the green dropdown .js menu that has that smooth effect) Question, are the files available to modify the colors from that green to another color or where the image files generated with a special program? I noticed that they are have special sizes and are specific image files like array_332x28.jpg, bullet_11x8.gif, bullet_11x8_roll.gif but do not know if if I am allowed to try and use this menu style. It’s one of the nicer menus that apparently is configured to work great with MODx.

Feel free to modify, but you’ll need to maintain the design copyright at the bottom.
