How do I integrate an ecommerce application i developed many years ago in Dreamweaver into a Modx template? It’s a PHP/MySQL site with a javascript shopping cart. The product pages are database driven and phpMyAdmin is used to update their information. The code’s pretty basic. Just need to know how to integrated the db connection code, query code etc into a modx template. Have experimented, without luck, using snippets to hold different bits of php code...
      Mostly harmless.

This would be the way to do it. You would need to create snippets for the php bits and use placeholders to display the data. You could make a module in the manager to have an administration of the data.

You could make use of the MODx api to mandle data connection and queries etc...

In most cases it is desired to have the products as MODx documents, so if this is your objective you would need to seriously modify your shop code.

There is a good article in the wiki about creating snippets:

We would need to know more about the specifics to have a more accurate suggestion.

There are a few shopping carts available for MODx (commercial and open source) as well.
