making class=active in menu

i have 3 pages

page1
page2
page3

when i’m on a certain page i need to change its class from class="page1" to class="page1-active".
is that understandable??
how do i do that?

Are you using some snippet to create the menu such as WayFinder?

Wayfinder can set a different to the active page as you need.
