    Hi there,

sorry if this is a really dumb question but I can’t find the literature out there on how to do this anywhere? I have just downloaded a freebie modx template to install on but have no idea how you go about installing it. Are there any good tutorials out there?

    Many Thanks

I’m also a noob but maybe i can answer this one.
Open the ModX manager->click the Resources tab->then click the Manage Resources [directly above the document tree]-> Look to the right of the Doc Tree and click new Template->Fill in the name etc. fields you want to use.( leave the template open for now)

Open the template you want to use in a text editor->Copy all the html in the text editor and paste it in the
template you created in the manager->then save it. Boom...new template!

I’m not sure where you got the template or what it contains....but i always ftp the files included into the modx/assets/template/"yourNewtemplateName" folder( stylesheets and such).

The actual template is stored in the database,so you’ll have to edit it from the manager. I use "html kit" to edit the css files.(it has a built in ftp client)

Hope i didn’ confuse you even more smiley

oh yeah...to make it the default template when you are ready->in the Manager->Tools->Site Configuration->scroll down and you will see the default template dropdown menu.
