    Hi,

I am working on a new template and I am having a problem envisioning how to implement my own custom navigation. Do I have to use wayfinder? If not, how would I go about accomplishing this? (TV/Chunk/Snippet/Other?)

I did search the forums and I did review the documentation, but I still do not perceive a solution other than using Wayfinder.

    Thank you.

    Who am I:
My name is Rich and I would like to personally thank the core team for such a well put together implementation of a PHP framework.

    History:
I am currently managing a web site that has 1400+ static HTML documents, 800+ PDF’s, countless GIF/JPG images, and a good bit of PHP. The web site was developed in 2004 and uses Dreamweaver7 Templates. I took over the job after several webmasters had their hands in the pot and now content is very disorganized, styles are not uniform, PHP code had to be rewritten for security reasons, etcetc. MODx is an obvious solution. smiley

    Technical details:
    Web Server: Windows 2000 Server/IIS 5; PHP 5.2.3 (ISAPI)
    Database: MySQL 5.0.45
MODx: v0.9.6; Fresh Install; All optional plugins/chunks/snippets installed; no new pages added.
    Browser/Client: IE7; XP SP2, 32-bit

I would suggest using Wayfinder. There is no point in reinventing the wheel, and if it doesn’t quite have the functionailty you need for your navigation, you could always extend it.

Unfortunately you didn’t explain how you envision your navigation, or I may have been able to offer some more advice.

Good luck with your project, I can feel for you. I have just taken on a similar website, but the boss doesn’t want to go with a CMS for the time being...meaning changing lots and lots of pages manually.

It could be that my ignorance about Wayfinder is the culprit. Do detailed examples exist for customizing wayfinder? If so, where might I find them?

        BTW: Thank you for replying.

One key to making the wayfinder work for you is to structure your site in the way it will navigate.
