Beginner's Guide for Templates requested.

The guide on the MODx site assumes that one would know a lot about creating templates and where to put css files etc. Unfortunately for me I do not possess that knowledge. The template tutorial is nice and it appears to be in an earlier version so I am writing this after playing around for 2 days.

Is there a step by step method for creating templates which includes the variables and how to use them? Also, when I went to resources and downloaded a template to use on my test server I was not able to bring that template into the menu. That concerns me because what will I do when I FTP it up and I have not been able to get the template to work on my own development server.

...Now while that beginner’s guide dosen’t go way indepth with all of MODx’s (advanced) features, it gives you a good idea of setting up a site, introduction to chunks and snippets, etc.
