    Hello,

I’m hoping someone can help me out here. I am looking to apply MODx to my current company website and I ran into a slight setback with setting up my own templates for my existing design. I setup one with no problems for my homepage, but when I made a copy (duplicate) of that template and edited and applied it to my first couple of interior pages, it seems to continue using an old version (or not even a real version) of the homepage template I created originally. When I look in the page preview though, it appears to be using the correct template for the interior pages, but it won’t publish to the live site. I do have Published checked so I didn’t need to input a publish date, and I’ve attempted to clear the CMS cache, but there’s nothing caching in there yet.

Let me know if you need more details about this to help me out or have any further questions to help me come to a (hopefully resolveable) conclusion.

The site can be viewed at http://www.localsounds.org/cms and clicking on one of the top navigation items (About Us, Newsroom, etc.) should bring up a page with just left navigation and right content (basic 2-column layout).

    Thank you.

Clear the site cache in MODx manager so it regenerates those pages as they are set to be cached, i’d guess..

        Hi,

I did that already. I went and cleared the cache, several times in fact, but it says nothing is cached there like they weren’t even being served up. My first reaction was that if the preview shows the correct templates being used by the live site isn’t using the same templates to clear the cache, but I find it odd that that doesn’t seem to work either.

Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions? I can possibly include screenshots in a later post later this evening.

I think I may have identified some more details surrounding this. It almost appears my cache isn’t caching. I also found that the files in assets/cache weren’t set with the correct permissions, but I am still not having any luck after this was corrected:

          index.html - 666
the 2 .php files in cache - 777

If those are wrong at all let me know.

After I add a new page with a new template (including the default Minimal Template) I am able to look at the new page in PREVIEW of that page (using the Preview tab) but when I use the SITE > PREVIEW only the home page shows the QuickEdit tools. When I click on any of the new pages in the menu, it gives me the correct URL but it’s not the right template and the QuickEdit tools aren’t there, which is why I said in my first post that it almost looks like it’s not a real version of my new page.

Seeing the url, I believe you have installed MODx in domain.com/cms/ ... but I guess you didn’t change .htaccess accordingly? in both /cms/ and /cms/manager/

May be this is causing a problem.

Moreover be sure to check if pages are published, site is NOT offline (in tools -> configuration).

            Hope this helps.

            regards.

              Hey there,

              Yup, it’s installed in domain.com/cms/

I doubled checked both .htaccess files, and both were correctly renamed to be .htaccess like I was instructed to do so. Was there any other configuration on those files besides that?

The site is online as well in tools > configuration, so that’s not it.

Thanks again for the help. I’ll keep digging, but I hope to hear back from you again with some more suggestions. smiley

Look at the commented notes in the root-level .htaccess file. You’ll find instructions that the rewrite base should (in your instance) need to be edited to be /cms (instead of just "/").
