Hi
I have read through the quickedit documentation on the site but I just can’t seem to figure it out properly.
If i have 3 or 4 divs on a page how to i apply a quickedit button to each of these divs so the frontend user can edit each one separately. Like if i have a div with a bit of welcome text in it i want there to be an edit button beside this. And if i have div in the left side bar with latest projects in it i want to be able to have another edit button beside this content and so on...
If someone can point me in the right direction this would be appreciated. i am pretty new to using this cms. cheers

You’ll need four separate TVs or 3 TVs and the content field. To make buttons appear, you put them in the template like [*#content*] [*#myTV1*] etc. They have to have a manager login session started in order for QE to work.

Have you looked at the Designer’s Guide in the Documentation?

Yeah i have looked at it quite alot. Whats confusing me i think is that i modified an existing template when i began. Below is the part of the template of my site.
<div id="divMainContent">
<div class="post">
<h3 id="post-">[*longtitle*]</h3>
[*#content*]
</div>
<!-- close .post (main column content) -->
This div here when i log into the site is editable. It has the quickedit button beside it. when i look at the template variables created in the manager there are none. Can i not just copy this code to another div and use it again.?

No. You put the other TVs in place of the [*#content*] (e.g., [*#introFeature*] or [*#sidebar*]) wrapped in the appropriate HTML structure. You’ll just be using the TVs and Content to hold the small bits of changing content, and your Template itself should define the structure of the page.
If I were you I’d use [*#content*] for the main column under the header image, [#*intro*] as an image input widget for the background on the div containing your very cool illustrations, and [*#sidebar*] in the column with your Latest Projects column. The list can simply be a chunk {{projects}} that is the default value for the sidebar, or if you need it to be searchable, just put that list in as the default value for the sidebar TV.

Hi rthrash
I did what u said in the previous post and now in my quickedit menu the sidebar and everything else is now there to edit. One problem is that the sidebar is not viewable at all when the site loads
the tv access is checked to the template i am using and settings for the tv are
variable name #sidebar
caption [*#sidebar*]
description sidebar
input type richtext
input option values --
default value is the html code for the content that will be in the sidebar
widget --
sort order 0
lock variable for editing only administrators is unchecked
my html code is below for the sidebar the div is called newsbox
<div id="divNewsbox">
[*sidebar*]
</div>
sorry for the hassle once again.
