    Hello,

    Sorry about the delay I have been caught up with some other issues...

    The code is correct for the menu when compared with the original template, but I did find one problem on your 2 column pages.

    Your first two lines should be:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

    Your missing the 2nd line thus causing those pages to fail validation.

    Also your css looked correct, but I will double check when i’m testing the site in IE once the VM finishes installing. Does IE6 SP1 correct the issue?

      Hello,

      I see the problem your describing and from the looks it’s related to the modifications you have made to the css file. Please try the original global.css file and see if that fixes the problem. If so then we can address getting the single column version converted for you.

        Thanks for catching my doctype error; corrected now.

        I was afraid it was that minor jiggle I did to global.css in order to fit in my client’s top menu items... I only adjusted the padding by 2 pixels!

        Don’t ya just love that IE? Thanks!

          I’m going to guess that solved the problem? The template itself is extremely well coded and tested and everything has a reason. It’s not overly surprising that a 3px difference did the trick.

          Oh, if you test with firefox get this plugin: http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/ It’s a wonderful live html validator so you can check every page online or off line private or not as you browse. Like your home page has 1 error (missing alt tags for image) and most of the other pages still have the doc type issue...

          Anyways another side note for tables... if you use <th class="top"> for the header row it uses a darker background which looks nice for tables.

          Enjoy

            Hmm, changing the dropdown css back to your original did not do the trick for me...I’ll work on this some more.

            My basic problem is that I’ve yet to see a modx template that does not need some custom modification to adapt it to a client’s special requirements. As soon as you poke it here, it moves something over there. But, that’s the nature of css...

            BTW, I see a minor error in your global.css. Looks like line #23 has one too many semicolons (just before your first comment):

            .main-content {display:inline; /*Fix IE floating margin bug*/; float:left; width:640px; margin:0 0 0 30px; overflow:visible !important /*Firefox*/; overflow:hidden /*IE6*/;}

            Thanks for the tip.

              Hello,

              I think part of the problem might be related to the 1 column conversion on the home page... Check with the original css on one of the 2 column pages and see if that works. If that works let me know and I will try to convert the single column version for you.

              Oh, thanks for the note on the CSS file I will check that out and correct if needed. Oh, I do agree most templates do need some customization for the customers. I know I converted it for my needs (part of reasoning behind light box integration) so it’s understandable. This template is just much harder to customize compared with others.

                What drew me to this template is its simple design. But I agree, the css is a bit convoluted.

                I’m even finding some strange inherited behavior where the main-content class seems to override specified classes, particularly where background-images are used.

                I don’t think the single column home page is the problem. That’s my only single column page; all the rest use your css, and dropdowns don’t work in those either.

                Just to check, I reverted to both your original global.css and text.css and still no dropdowns (yes, my cache was empty).

                I’m ready to write it off to the great IE6 monster. If all us webfolk had a dollar for every hour we’ve spent wrestling with Microsoft’s sorry excuse for a browser, we’d be living in Bill Gates’ house instead of him.

                  I managed to get the colored boxes on the right with Ditto 2.x., it’s easy. Here is how: I made a TV "m3_BoxColor", radio options, values green||grey||blue||orange, default to blue (or whatever you want), and assigned it to my template.

                  Then I use only 1 chunk "m3_su_Border", with a new placeholder [+m3_BoxColor+]:
                  <div class="subcontent-unit-border-[+m3_BoxColor+]">
                     <div class="round-border-topleft"></div><div class="round-border-topright"></div>
                       <h1 class="[+m3_BoxColor+]">[+title+]</h1>
                       [+content+]
                   </div>
                  Note that I use [+content+], not [+introtext+] or [+summary+], but that’s not important. Finally, here is my Ditto call, which I placed directly into my template:
                  [[Ditto? &parents=`X` &display=`20` &tpl=`m3_su_Border` &sortDir=`ASC` &sortBy=`menuindex`]]
                  where `X` is the folder containing your boxes. Enjoy. wink
