    Update: I changed the title of this post from: Cant even install a template in this system -- to the curent: Problems installing my template

    The first title was not to "smart written" -- sorry --

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hi all!

    I have without probs installed the MODx CMS system but i get shocked when i am to try to make my site fit my needs.. Who says that this system is so easy to use???????????+

    Newer have i tried a system that is so complexed even for installing a new template.. One needs to be a skilled coder even to start getting a grip on how i change the default template with a new one.. I curently use php-fusion for my site and it’s really childs play to use that system compared to this one, but the reason i wanted to try this system is that i hate the table use in php-fusion and i have known about MODx for about a year now and finaly decided to try it after learning a lot from php-fusion when it comes to php.. But seems like i’m sticking with my php-fusion site because really i cant even get my uploaded template that is the goflexible pro template to show up after install . I copy the html code and direct the link to the css where it is actually located but no way --- still the default template is showing.. Really i became dissapointed when hearing that this system was to be so flexible and only to discover that it is the most confusiong and hard to understand cms i have ever tryed.. I hope one day that this cms will be useable for a "none pro coder" because i like the fact that this system is so ceo friendly and "none table based"..

    Sorry for being so critical in my first ever post but u see i really got frustrated after trying to get the goflexible pro to be my default site template -- How to acomplish it is almost impossible it seems,, and as i read throughout the documentations i really see that this system requires to much work in order to run a site that has so much content that my site has/will have..

    I wish you the best of luck in trying to get this system easy to use because as for now i will remove it from my server if i dont get a freaking template to show up after uploading it.. gonna try one more time - and if you ask me, the installing of a new design/template should be easy in a cms system but that fails 100% in this cms.

    My test site btw: http://3wpoker.com/modexed

    I hope i get the goflexible to show up after one more atempt now, but it seems really hard to get it donne..

      Have you added the template in the Manager?
      Have you set the pages to use the new template?
        No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

        Its very simple!

        Goto Manage Resources-> Templates, create a "new template", paste the html code etc. Save it!

        Now edit the document, in left side tree structure, select the template in template dropdown and save it.

        You are done!

        Moreover, if you want to make your template default for every newly created or already existed document, be sure to read: http://modxcms.com/template-migration.html

        Isn’t it easy?... be sure to read the documentation properly before adding the comments like you wrote in your post above.

          Sorry for the critical post but i really had probs for a while here.. I finaly got it right after missunderstanding a few lines in the install documentation so i was doing it in the wrong way totaly because i set the css file to a wrong link i think.. i goit it to appear when i used this:
          <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="[(base_url)]assets/templates/GoFlexibleX/css/style.css" />
          <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print" href="[(base_url)]assets/templates/GoFlexibleX/css/style_print.css" />

          instead of this:
          <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="modexed/assets/templates/GoFlexibleX/css/style.css" />
          <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print" href="modexed/assets/templates/GoFlexibleX/css/style_print.css" />

          So im a bit more into it now wink

          Probably my frustration also had to do with that i had so great expectations to this cms as i have been wanting to use it from the beginning of when i started to use cms for my site but it is firsty now that i see the system has enough modules and function to become a portall/forum/community that my site needs, so i was to quick here in my first judgement because i know this cms has a lot of power and is one of the best in coding aspects and ceo friendliness.  If i get it all to work propperly i will start using MODx instead of php-fusion (php-fusion really needs to get the tables "out"/decreased amount,, in their system) .

          Thanx for helping and sorry for the "frustrated critic" wich was not deserved -- my mistake - Still learning
