    Hello all,

    We have a test version of our website running at this location:
    http://85.92.144.37/~effictiv/

    As you probably can see it behaves well when it is viewed with firefox, the IE6 however does not change the background image of the li elements in the left navigation on hovering. I am allready using anything:hover but for this specific part of the website it just doesn’t seem to work. I think the malfunction is due to css definitions like "#wayfinderdiv li.llevel1:hover#lmenu4 {}" that just don’t get recognized correctly by the IE.

    Is there any other way i can achieve the effect which would work in the IE? I would also be interested in solutions that require using entirely different wayfinder calls and/or chunk templates for it.

    The current wayfinder calls for the left navigation:

            <div id="wayfinderdiv">
            [[Eff_Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &innerTpl=`wfInner_left` &outerTpl=`wfOuter_left` &levelClass=`llevel` &level=`3` &rowIdPrefix=`lmenu` &lastClass=`` &firstClass=``]]
            </div>

    The chunk for wfInner_left

    <ul[+wf.id+][+wf.classes+]>[+wf.wrapper+]</ul>

    The chunk for wfOuter_left
    <ul id="navleft"[+wf.classes+]>[+wf.wrapper+]</ul>

      I’m not exactly a specialist on IE’s rendering, but as far as I know IE doesn’t allow :hover properties on anything but "a"-elements, I think there are some ’hacks’ or javascripts available on the net to fix this, such as here.

        That is exactly what I am allready using, in my original post i referred to this as anything:hover but as the site you link shows the correct name is whatever:hover. Anyway in general the :hover support works as a charm (like for the dropdowns on our website) but not for the problem i describe above.

          Always validate your CSS and XHTML, or all bets are off and it’s difficult to offer advice on layout issues.

            What makes you think I didn’t validate? The code is perfectly valid XHTML 1.1 strict and the CSS is mostly error free. The css validator has a little problem doing its job except if I use FF web developer to validate it as local CSS. But anyhow no errors, except for those that do the transparency thing, were found.

            I understand that it is very hard to help on layout issues especially when they get this specific but I figured I could try asking my question anyway. I didn’t mean to write in a demanding style and I don’t think I did ...

            I usually appreciate your work and helpfulness Ryan but this post was rather rude and did’t help at all. Anyways after some more trial and error CSS coding today i managed to fix the IE6 issue ... end good all good.

              I went to validate the CSS to see if it grabbed anything, and it won’t go through. I’m sorry I’m not able to help any further and apologize if I came across as rude. I’ll just get back to work on the next release and stop trying to answer posts not directly related to that as such.
