I notice that the default Minimal Template has the following two lines in the header:

    <script src="manager/media/script/scriptaculous/prototype.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="manager/media/script/scriptaculous/scriptaculous.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

(I’m not exactly sure what these do.) When I design my own template, are these lines required, or can I get away with "scriptaculous-less" templates in MODx?

    Thanks,

Not required, unless you are using scriptaculous effects in your template.

In my experience modules/snippets that require them tend to have an option to add them to the page anyway (before the </head> - it is very clever). Also QuickEdit seems to add the prototype library.
No, I don&#39;t know what OpenGeek&#39;s saying half the time either.
