multiflex 1 by Gerhard has been ported!

    Warning: This is my second attempt at doing a template for modx and this is my first port. The code my be a bit weird but I’ve tried to stay true to the original template to my best of abilities and hopefully too many late nights haven’t let a few errors slip in.

    How to install:
    Run the 2 sql files through phpmyadmin (or whatever you use)
    ftp the folder "MultiFlex1" to the assests/templates folder
    check to see if TVs are assigned properly

    The sql files contains hopefully ever snippet, chunk and TV and not an extra or 2 that I used.

    Note:
    I included the full tempalte structure for the Multiflex1 template. I started the document count at 200. I probably should have used something like 2000 but lazy me I was thinking of my own set up wink

    The document layout sql file uses tabs to create an orderly view. So if you need to you can go in by hand and add another digit or renumber to your hearts desire.

    Sorry no demo yet. I’ve taken a long enough distraction from my project just to get this cleaned up to release here.

    After this post I’ll be emailing the original creater to let him know that I’ve ported this.

    And one last bit of information.
    Let’s consider this as 1.0 since we all know that 1.0 tends to be a work in progress anyway tongue

              Hi everybody, I am a newbie and my name is Nathalie from Switzerland grin

              Thanks a lot for this wonderful work, I installed it on my new website, it is now working perfectly.

              I already changed few things and the CSS which is fully customizable.

              As I am still testing the thing I probably come back with some questions later.

              I have maybe two already.

              What should I change to have the sidebar on the right showing?
              What should I change to have the Global navigation menu showing on all pages?

                I just installed this myself earlier.

                You need to set all documents to have templates ... ugh ... I tried to make this an easy install and end up screwing myself. Oh well
                Next you need to set some document IDs in TVs, and chunks.

                  Everything works fine now.

                  TV mfLeftBarSelector + mfRightBarSelector had to be corrected and mfLanguageHeader.

                    Hello everybody,

                    First of all, thank you for this superb template! grin

                    I’m new to Modx (since tonight! laugh) and I installed Carsten template right after installing Modx...

                    I executed the sql lines provided in the .zip, I replaced the wrong ones with the ones you give just here, I uploaded the files to my FTP... Everything seemed to work fine...


                    But! I found out that I had to go to the "Template Variables" section in the manager in order to allow each of them to be used by the 3 models of the Multiflex1 template... tongue
                    Was it normal? If I hadn’t done it, the menus wouldn’t appear!

                    So, no big deal, but then I opened my first page, which looked really great with Firefox and Opera, with Internet Explorer (v6) and there : a big disappointment since the list items of the left menu are really big, and the result is really bad on screen sad

                    I know that IE isn’t the best navigator for interpreting XHTML and CSS, but a lot of Internet users have it...
                    That’s why I’m asking :

                    Do you have the same problem? Did you find a way to resolve it... If you want, I can put a screenshot to let you see...


                    Another point : I remarqued the little flags on top of the screen, and I saw the TV "language" and "langID"...
                    Does that mean that this template allows me to write my site in 3 different languages. That would be really great, because as far as I know, I didn’t know that Modx current version handled this...
                    However, it would be really great If you gave an example on how to use this, because I’m a bit lost! wink

                      Sorry that I can’t help with the CSS. I’m not even good at it ... sad

                      Yes, the template was set up with the top menu to be multi-lingual using Susan’s cookie method. I am currently working on a way to make the document lanugage based without the use of a cookie but rather with an insert into the db along with the other document information. I do believe that I posted my solution here somewhere ... huh? ... hehe, search might work!

                      You can use as many languages as you want with the cookie method.
                      You just need to change the chunk for the header menu and insert the corresponding number to your language category.

                      Yes, you have to set each TV to work with each template. That is one problem with my sql methog. I was worried about IDs clashing between numbers that I have choosen and those that are already in use in the db. bummer but that is life at the moment.
