"Image" type template variable uses absolute path

Dear Member,

I have a TV, which is accessed by my "story page template". This TV helps to select a thumbnail image for each story.

When I select the image for a particular story, the URL of the image is ABSOLUTE e.g. "http://ngo/assets/images/thumbnail-1.jpg". Can I make the URL RELATIVE e.g. ("/images/thumbnail-1.jpg"), so that when moving from the ’Development’ server to the FINAL server (launch) there are no image related issues...

BTW, In the Manager, under:
Administration > System Configuration > Miscellaneous Settings I have set the "Rewrite image paths?" to ’YES’. Hope this is what resolves my above concern.
