    First of all, Modx is such a great CMS, I was playing about with Joomla beforehand for about 3 days trying to get it to do what I wanted...no joy. Then read on Stylegala that this was an easy CMS...and within 3 hours I got the whole site up and running!

    Only one snag, embarrassed I reckin its my CSS.... check out this link http://www.cromwellcare.com/index.php?id=39 - As you can see the footer seems to be starting where the right column is, and as expected I want it starting from the end of the left column.I cant figure out why...any ideas?

    Also my google Maps (on the contact us page) - is not loading up - is this a known issue?

    many many thanks smiley

      It looks to me that you need a clear:both on the footer DIV with a quick glance. RIght now it’s only set to clear: right.

        Hi Ryan,

        Much kudos on the CMS, the more I play around and read the more impressed I get. I used to work for a very large DOT NET CMS company, but for all my own freelance projects etc I have to say Modx is the easiest to use. (pat on the back)

        I tried that..It’s quite odd really,as the left column has been taken out of the flow, yet the footer still follows...one for me to figure out, thanks anyhow.

        In regards to the google maps issue, I thought it could be and issue with the URL, so I tried changing to friendly URL’s. All good, updated my aliases, renamed ht.access to .htaccess (im manager too)...but I get a 500 server error. maybe a topic for a different thread?

          There is only one cause for that: Your server does not support one of the more advanced mod_rewrite commands used (not neccessary for proper function though). Just make your .htaccess file this:

          RewriteEngine On
          RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
          RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

          # If your MODx installation is in a subdirectory, change the following line to match the physical
          # path to the "root" of the site as follows:
          # RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /path/to/subdirectory/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

          RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

            If you want a quick down and dirty fix for your left column issue, immeidately before the footer DIV, insert the following:
            <br style="clear:both;height:1px;margin-top: -1px;line-height:1px;font-size:1px;" />

              Hi guys,

              I am trying to keep my HTML as simple as possible, which was one of the reasons for choosing Modx wink

              I think I will knock this on the head and rewrite the CSS for the columns.

              In regards to the server error - still no joy. I host with mediatemple, and have this co-hosted in my webspace.

              one limitation is:

              Limitations:

              * Uses ModRewrite and does not have IP address or web server name based entry.

              I am not sure what this means..its a pain to say the least. aaarrrrgh! undecided

                Nice site I played a bit with the css and this seems to work...

                try this for fun:

                #content {position:relative;
                	width: 760px;
                        overflow:hidden;
                	clear: both;

                }

                  Hey guys,

                  As they always say, most errors are human....google maps was entirely my fault, I hadnt included the correct JS file. DOH!

                  Thanks for all your help so far guys grin

                  The htaccess change did something definately, however no 500 error, OH WELL, no SEO for me wink .

                  Thanks for the kind words Dimmy, will give it a shot

                    Thats odd, I have an account with mediatemple and the default .htaccess file works fine on their shared hosting without any changes. Are you installing MODx in a subdirectory? If so did you update the .htaccess file with the correct path?

                    If your MODx installation is in a subdirectory, change the following line to match the physical
                    # path to the "root" of the site as follows:
                    # RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /path/to/subdirectory/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

                      I have my main website hosted with them, fazalkhan.co.uk, (which needs a serious overhaul).
                      This Site I am running on MODx is an ’alternate domain’ as described here: http://kb.mediatemple.net/article.asp?article=10024&p=3

                      As far as I can see, I don’t think I need to update the path, and when I have done, well... if you look, it’s still not working. I agree, odd embarrassed
