    Please forgive me if this is a question I should have found an answer to elsewhere - how do I keep a CSS drop-down menu from pushing the rest of the page away when it expands?
    You can see our current dilemma here. (and no, the graphic design isn’t finished yet...)

      Here is a tutorial that might help you step through the drop down menu.

      http://www.alistapart.com/articles/horizdropdowns/

      As for my suggestion, you need to make the "div#menu li ul" to have position absolute, because of that you will ned to make "div#menu li" to be relative as well, because of the absolute positioning in "div#menu li ul".

      Hope that helps.

        Thanks, Wendy! We’d missed the absolute part.
        It works now...

          I’m working on this project as well and the problem we have now is that IE does not like our dropdown menu. Any suggestions on how we can make IE recognize it?

          Thanks...

            There are two ways; include this in your template head:

            <!--[if lte IE 6]>
            <style type="text/css" media="screen, tv, projection">
            body { behavior: url(assets/js/csshover.htc); }
            </style>
            <![endif]-->

            which forces IE to recognize the :hover pseudo-class on other elements besides <a>;

            or use a different CSS + Javascript method, such as this:
