I used a JavaScript CSS Switcher from A List Apart and some semantically and structurally sound XHTML to let the visitor change the look of the site by selecting an alternate CSS from a list.  Here are some captures:

You can check it out at ScottyDelicious.com.

There are some larger screen captures attached to this message.

      Very nice!

I actually used the same source to produce a font/font-size changer for http://dogblogonline.com/ which I released a few days ago. Just didn’t post it here (shhhh!! cause it’s a WordPress site/theme embarrassed )

Your blog is awesome. My wife and I just got a Boxer pup, and we have been clicker training. She is 13 weeks old, and when she is on a dead run, if I click, or even snap my fingers, she stops and sits immediately. Clicker training is an amazing technique.

Anyway, I looked around your site, but I couldn’t find your "switcher". I wanted to see how others are using this.

The Select Site Style control is a drop down right below the Search and above the Syndication options in the sidebar. This is actually a client of mine from England whom I personalized a WP theme for. grin

I would love to give this layout a try. It boasts Total Layout Flexibility. That is, the ability to order columns logically in the source while displaying them in any order desired. For any number of columns.

Ryan Thrash pointed it out in another thread here:

              later,

I’ve got it working nicely as a MODx template, just no pretty pictures yet. I’ll have it finished and packaged today sometime. Mostly have to choose some pretty pictures for it. Very simple to make it two-column left, two-column right, or three column.

I really really don’t like that kludgy CSS for making the columns full-length. It’s just ugly. Not to mention all the "caveats" with different browsers, needing this and that hack. And I have a nasty suspicion that as time passes, there will be more problems with how different browsers react to it. That’s why I don’t like hacks and kludges; you never know what the next version of a given browser is going to do with it, needing further hacks and kludges until you’ve got more "hack" code than normal. I would much rather have an extra container in the HTML source and know I’ve got a clean operation in all browsers. Sometimes I think we can get too clever for our own good. Reminds me of the days of programming for "undocumented" DOS and Win16. Neat stuff, but you never knew if it was going to work in the next version or not.
