Have a client on an IIS box (*sigh*) and running Modx 1.0.4

When I save a document I get the following error.

    Cannot open file (../assets/cache/sitePublishing.idx.php)

Fortunately the changes to the document do save, but the error persists. I have set 777 permissions on the assets/cache folder and all of its enclosed items. But still get the same error. I’ve followed instructions from the forums and googled, but they all point to permissions issues and they still aren’t working.

    Any idea?

      Hi,

Could you let me know what the folder NTFS permissions are? (If you have direct access to the server), as this is a windows server chmod commands do not work, also as a test if you use MODx file manager and go to the folder /assets/cache can you upload a file to this area?

      Thanks Aaron

I do not have direct access to the server. I am interfacing with the clients server guy. I was able upload and delete files using the file manager in the assets/cache directory.

In MODx Manager can you click empty cache? does this show any errors.

Does not allow me to empty cache. Get the following error.

            Cannot open file (../assets/cache/sitePublishing.idx.php)

OK it sounds like the permissions for the cache folder are OK as you can create new files there with file manager, so I suspect the sitePublishing.idx.php does not have write permissions anymore.

What you can do is either

              1) Via FTP Delete the file (MODx will recreate this, if you want to be extra careful you could try and rename the file)
              2) Contact the web host to make sure that PHP has read / write access to the cache folder and all its sub files.

Let me know how you get on.
