I have an installation of Modx running on Windows 7 with IIS7.5 I recently migrated a website to this setup. I made a backup of the sites database from a working set up of the site, then deleted all the tables in the modx database in my local environment, and then imported my backup into the modx database running in my local environment.

I then moved all the files from the working site to my local modx installation. I can now see the homepage of my site on my localhost, but any time I click a link I get a 404 not found error. It appears that modx doesn’t know how to link to the html files stored in the local modx database.

I can see all the html files from the site, templates, chunks, snippets ect when I log into my locally installed modx manager so I know the files are all local.

I’ve been researching for days...any help is greatly appreciated!

You cannot install fresh, and restore a backup of the database. Just follow the instructions at http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Moving+Your+Site+to+a+New+Server or move all the files, upload the original setup directory, and run setup in upgrade mode in the new location.

By upload the original setup directory do you mean the setup directory from the server the site is currently running on? Or do you mean upload an original setup directory as in a fresh install folder?

I appreciate the information, and the link!

The setup you used to install the version in the original location. If you deleted it, you can use the one from the download package for the version you installed (or the most recent version you upgraded to, if applicable).
